The rain prayer of prayer of request is made in line with the tradition of the prophet Mohammed when rain is scarce.
Headed by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, the prayers included children, quranic school students, imams, and students of the Mohammed VI institute for the Training of Imams, Morchidines and Morchidates.
The rain prayers were performed upon orders of King Mohammed VI.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, rain prayers were performed by nationwide “to pray the Almighty to bestow his beneficial rains on his creatures,” reported MAP.
Upon his arrival at Bab Chellah, the crown prince was greeted by Ahmed Toufiq, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Mohammed Mhidia, Wali of the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region and governor of Rabat prefecture, and Mohammed Yessef, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Ulema.
