RAM Begins Sale of Tickets for Morocco-Côte d’Ivoire Game in Abidjan

Rabat – The Moroccan flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) started selling on Saturday the much-awaited tickets for flights to Abidjan for Moroccan football fans wishing to cheer on their squad during its upcoming World Cup Qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire.

The tickets will be sold at MAD 2000 for a round trip flight. A ticket to the match will be also offered to fans once they book their flights.

The Moroccan football squad is only 1 point away from booking a ticket to the World Cup for the first time in 20 years. The team will face Côte d’Ivoire on November 11 at Félix Houphouët Boigny stadium.

Royal Air Maroc seems to be excited as Morocco’s fans. The airline will set up several additional aircraft in order to move its passengers back and forth, reported Moroccan media.

Fans who book tickets will also be provided with a range of vaccines before leaving the country. These vaccines are recommended by Morocco’s Ministry of Health in order to protect fans from various diseases, including yellow fever and meningitis.

The vaccines are mandatory as fans would be prevented from entering the Ivorian territory if they could not present an international vaccination card upon their arrival.

More Than Just 201

This good news shows that Morocco’s fans have been allocated a large number of seats, dissuading previous rumors.

In October, fears grew that not all Moroccan fans wishing to travel to Abidjan would be able to get a ticket, following statements by the head of an Cote d’Ivoire fan group who said that Moroccans would receive a maximum of 201 seats.

“We’d like to tell them that there aren’t enough seats in Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium. We won’t let them take our seats,” said Parfait Kouassi, the head of Comité National de Soutien aux Éléphants (CNSE).

Kouassi said that Cote d’Ivoire fans received “200 seats in a stadium with 60,000 seats capacity” during the first game between the two teams in Marrakech in November 2016, promising that Moroccans would receive a similar treatment in Abidjan.

“To pay them back what they did to us, Moroccan fans will only get 201 seats,” he said sarcastically.
