Police Officer Commits Suicide in Agadir, Investigation Underway

Rabat – A senior police officer was found dead at his home in Agadir after he committed suicide with his service weapon, local authorities confirmed on Monday.

The regional security authority of Agadir announced that a judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor to determine the exact circumstances of the officer’s death. 

The incident took place in the Hay Mohammadi district of the city.

According to initial forensic examinations and ballistic analysis, the victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound inflicted with his service firearm. 

Investigators from the judicial police are currently pursuing inquiries to establish the motives behind the act.

Colleagues described the officer as carrying out his duties normally, with no recent signs of distress or unusual behavior. 

The case has nonetheless prompted further investigation into possible underlying factors.

The tragedy has caused shock among members of the police force and residents of Agadir, as the community awaits the results of the inquiry to shed more light on the reasons behind the suicide.
