Rabat — Morocco’s Finance and Economy Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui has called for international cooperation to combat cyber attacks.
The minister made the statements during the cybersecurity conference organized by the General Directorate of Information Systems Security, under the National Defense Administration.
She explained that cybersecurity is an “absolute necessity” and a component to support economic strength and enhance trust among citizens and partners.
Fettah Alaoui said that although the digital revolution profoundly affects societies and national economies, it carries “major challenges related to the growth of cyber attacks.”
Global cybersecurity concerns have worsened and “become increasingly complex due to the implications of artificial intelligence,” she noted.
She commented on the ability of individual countries to counter these threats, saying, “facing a boundless cyberspace, it has become certain that no country is capable of meeting this challenge alone.”
Fettah Alaoui called on all countries to adopt international cooperation to combat cyber attacks and achieve cybersecurity.
She also pointed out the importance of strengthening international solidarity to counter cybercrime, while ensuring mutual support to enhance capabilities through training and skills development.
The cybersecurity conference is taking place in Rabat from September 15-19, in partnership with the Arab Regional Center for Cybersecurity, under the theme “The Future of Cybersecurity: Digital Sovereignty in Service of Sustainable Economic Development.”
The conference features discussions on cybersecurity issues, cloud services security, and the role of emerging technologies in enhancing the security and resilience of digital space.
Officials, experts, and professionals representing both public and private sectors from Morocco, the Arab world, and Africa are coming together to address the issues of cybersecurity and come up with solutions that would mitigate cyber attacks.
