Rabat – Real Betis have released Sofyan Amrabat from his club duties so the midfielder can continue his recovery in Morocco.
Amrabat has been sidelined since suffering an injury in a collision with Isco during the November 27 match against Utrecht. The injury ruled him out of important fixtures, including the Seville derby, the clash with Barcelona, and Betis’ European meeting with Dinamo Zagreb.
After an initial return to individual training on December 4, the club confirmed on December 9 that he would rejoin the Moroccan medical staff to complete his rehabilitation.

The move ensures Morocco’s medical team can oversee the final phase of Amrabat’s recovery, with the tournament starting in only 2 weeks. Local reports indicate the club Real Betis may not expect him back until early 2026, depending on his physical response.
Amrabat’s absence continues a challenging stretch for Betis, who had relied on his experience and control in midfield throughout the first half of the season. For Morocco, however, the early handover offers clarity as they look to manage his workload and maximize his availability for AFCON.
The national team will assess his progress in the coming weeks as he transitions from rehabilitation to full training ahead of the competition.
