Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari said he is delighted with his goals at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but insisted that helping the Atlas Lions top Group C is even more important.
Speaking after Morocco’s 1-0 victory over Scotland, the 24-year-old stressed that the team’s strong position in the standings gives him greater satisfaction than his individual achievements.
“I am happy with the two goals I have scored at the World Cup, but what makes me happier is having four points and being top of the group,” Saibari said.
“There is still one more match to play and we hope to win that one as well.”
Saibari has enjoyed a dream start to his first World Cup. The PSV Eindhoven midfielder scored against Brazil in Morocco’s opening 1-1 draw before netting the winning goal against Scotland after just 71 seconds, the fastest strike of the 2026 tournament and the quickest goal ever scored by an Arab player at a World Cup.
Despite his impressive form, the midfielder emphasized that Morocco’s strength lies in its unity.
“We all have the same objective. We play as one group. We are like a family,” he explained.
Saibari also underlined the ambition inside the Moroccan camp, insisting that the Atlas Lions are aiming for victory in every game.
“We want to win every match and we will continue fighting in every game at the World Cup,” he added.
Morocco sits at the top of Group C with four points after two matches and is well placed to secure a place in the knockout rounds. With Saibari leading by example, the Atlas Lions will now turn their attention to their final group-stage clash, hoping to continue their impressive run in the United States.
