Rabat – The Muslim community worldwide is preparing to welcome the holy month of Ramadan. In the United Kingdom, astrologists predicted Ramadan to start on the evening of Sunday, May 5, and to last through the evening of Tuesday, June 4, according to UK media.
In the US, the first day of fasting Ramadan will be Monday 6 and end in the evening of Tuesday, June 4, according to the Fiqh Council of North America.
Both nations will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Wednesday, June 5.
During the holy month, Muslims are not allowed to eat, drink, smoke or engage in any sexual activity from dawn to sunset.
Ramadan is a special month for Muslims during which they get closer to God by reading as many verses as possible from the Qur’an and also performing special tarawih prayers after sunset.
Ramadan can last from 29 to 30 days. The month ends when the new moon, signaling the start of the Islamic month of Shawwal, is spotted.
