Rabat – The Minister for the Reform of Administration and Public Service announced yesterday that Friday June 7 will be a public holiday in Morocco this year. This public holiday will only apply to public service and local body employees.
Moroccan public servants may, therefore, have up to three days off this week, because of the public holidays of Eid Al Fitr, which celebrates the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The exact date of Eid Al Fitr in Morocco is not yet confirmed. Much like the beginning of Ramadan, the end of Ramadan also depends on the sighting of the moon.
If Eid Al Fitr falls on Wednesday, then Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be public holidays, noting that in Morocco, people get two days off for religious celebrations, as opposed to one day off for national holidays like Independence Day.

If Eid Al Fitr falls on Thursday, only Thursday and Friday will be holidays.
It is likely Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday June 5, as Moroccan astronomer Abdelaziz Kharbouch Al Ifrani told Morocco World News this late last month.
Muslims worldwide begin the celebration with Eid prayers at dawn in mosques across the globe.
After the Eid prayer, families will come together to share food and celebrate the end of Ramadan.
The public holiday on Friday will allow Moroccans to travel across the country if they need to in order to share this moment with their close ones.
