Rabat – Late Sunday night, three US F-15E Strike Eagles were shot down over Kuwait in what officials are calling a friendly fire incident, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The aircraft were operating as part of Operation Epic Fury, which responds to ongoing retaliatory Iranian air attacks, ballistic missiles, and drones.
All six crew members ejected safely and have been recovered in stable condition.
Kuwaiti authorities confirmed the incident and cooperated in the rescue of the pilots. US officials expressed gratitude for the support of Kuwaiti defense forces during the operation.
The cause of the misfire remains under investigation. Authorities promised that more information would be released as soon as it becomes available.
Tensions in the Middle East have surged following the US and Israeli strikes on Iran.
Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks on Israeli and US-linked targets across the Gulf.
US President Donald Trump claims strikes as a response to “imminent threats,” aiming to cripple Iran’s missiles, weaken its navy, and halt nuclear development.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also described the operation as a “defense against an existential threat,” urging Iranians to reject tyranny.
Global leaders have voiced alarm over the escalating violence and urged all sides to avoid further confrontation.
