Rabat – Morocco’s High Authority of Audiovisual Communication (HACA) opened a monitoring center for Burkina Faso’s Higher Council of Communication (CSC) on Friday, December 27.

The new monitoring center will ensure 24/7 recording of 60 radio stations and 24 television channels, with storage capacity reaching 48 months, according to CSC’s president, Mathias Tankoano.

Tankoano expressed his appreciation for the HACA’s experts, Najib Bouzmarni and Adil Bourbate, who supervised the center’s installation and trained the CSC teams that will manage the monitoring facility.

HACA’s monitoring center, known under the name HACA Media Solutions, received a patent from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2007. Since then, HACA has installed centers in several media regulation institutions in Africa.

Burkina Faso’s president, Roch-Marc Christian Kabore, received HACA’s president, Latifa Akharbach, on the day of the opening in the Burkinabe capital, Ouagadougou.

The Burkinabe Head of State saluted the Pan-African engagement of King Mohammed VI, noting the added value of the south-south cooperation in terms of promoting African expertise.

The president has also commended the Moroccan experience in the field of media regulation and thanked HACA’s president for the training and expertise the Moroccan institution offered for its Burkinabe counterpart.

During the reception, Akharbach reaffirmed HACA’s engagement with a “pragmatic, efficient, and mutually beneficial Intra-African cooperation that is oriented towards answering citizens’ expectations in terms of democracy.”

“This media monitoring center will allow the CSC to guarantee the expression of pluralism through public and private audiovisual services of Burkina Faso, both during electoral and normal periods,” explained HACA’s president.

“The audiovisual content monitoring, treatment, and analysis system developed and patented by HACA is also a powerful tool to carry out studies and establish audiovisual archives,” concluded Akharbach.
