Rabat – Rwanda officially opened its embassy in Rabat on Wednesday, January 15.
The Rwandan Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Olivier Nduhungirehe and Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita inaugurated the embassy at an official ceremony.
The inauguration comes after exchanges of visits from high-level officials from both countries.
The Rwandan official stressed that this embassy will promote the exchange of visits between the people of the two countries.
The diplomatic mission will also promote business visits and allow Moroccan investors to learn about the business climate in Rwanda.
The visit of the FM general secretary was marked by the signing of 23 agreements, followed by twelve other agreements in various areas as agriculture, industry and pharmacy.
“Today we are in a very promising phase of bilateral relations,” Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita stated.
Bourita added that King Mohammed VI and Rwandan President Paul Kagame share the same vision of South-South partnership and African integration.
Rabat has about 106 foreign embassies in addition to regional and international organizations.
“This embassy shows the status of Rabat as a top regional diplomatic platform,” noted Bourita.
The two countries established diplomatic ties following the royal visit to Rwanda in 2016, and Morocco opened its embassy in Kigali in April 2017.
During the King’s visit to Rwanda, senior officials from Rabat and Kigali signed several bilateral agreements.
Rwandan President Paul Kagami is expected to arrive in Morocco on October 12 to take part in the World Policy Conference in Marrakech, African Intelligence reported.
