Rabat – Morocco signed a cooperation agreement focussing on training, agriculture, and tourism with Antigua and Barbuda, on Friday, January 10, in Rabat.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Trade of Antigua and Barbuda, Paul Chet Greene, inked the cooperation agreement with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans residing abroad, Nasser Bourita.

Greene seized the meeting as an opportunity to reiterate his country’s “firm” position on the Western Sahara conflict, saying that Morocco’s Autonomy Plan is “credible, serious and realistic”.

He added that any resolution to the regional conflict must be “within the framework of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and respect for its territorial integrity.”

Greene also expressed his government’s gratitude to King Mohammed VI for approving the inauguration of an embassy representing the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) in Morocco.

The  move, he said, will strengthen the existing relations between the Kingdom and this region: “This initiative would give a good opportunity for the countries of this region to open up to the African continent.”

Greene indicated that the relations between Antigua and Barbuda and Morocco could serve as a model, proving that geographically distant countries can still work together.
