Rabat – The Marrakech Court of Appeals criminal chamber decided on Monday, January 6 to increase Moroccan singer Dounia Batma bail.

Both Batma and her sister, Ibtissam whose bail was also raised, are accused of involvement in the infamous “Hamza mon bb” case.

News reports said that the court decided to increase Dounia’s bail from MAD 300,000 to MAD 500,000. The court also increased Ibtissam’s bail from MAD 100,000 to 300,000.

The bail price cited today differs from the amount listed in the court’s December 30, 2019 statement.

The statement confirming that the investigating judge is tackling the Batma sisters’ case indicated that both celebrities paid MAD 500,000 to secure their release on bail.

Both Dounia and her sister are now part of the ongoing investigation to determine the extent of their alleged involvement in the Hamza mon bb case,  a reference to a Snapchat and Instagram account used to share embarrassing videos and photos of celebrities for blackmail.

Police summoned Dounia and her sister in December 2019 for statement about their alleged involvement in the case after YouTuber Soukaina Janah (Glamror)  accused them of being directly connected to the case.

Both sisters are facing charges of defamation, blackmail, and sharing people’s statements and photos without their consent. The sisters could face a 5-year prison term each if convicted.

The Batma sisters are not authorized to leave the country while the investigation continues. Police have confiscated their passports.

Last week, several news reports said that Moroccan authorities had prevented Dounia Batma from leaving the airport as she was trying to flee Morocco to Bahrain.

The singer’s husband, Mohammad Al Turk, however, denied the claims, stating that his wife accompanied him to the airport as he was traveling to Bahrain.
