Rabat – The Shanghai Ranking has concluded that four universities in Morocco rank among the best on physics in the Arab World and in Africa. The four universities in question are Mohammed I University in Oujda, Rabat’s Mohammed V University, Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, and Casablanca’s Hassan II University.
Morocco’s four top universities according to the Shanghai Ranking, published on May 26, all ranked above all other universities located in Africa and the Arab-speaking World in the field of physics.
The Shanghai Ranking of Academic Subjects 2021 ranks universities worldwide on their performance on particular scientific subjects, spanning Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. It evaluated 4,000 universities, with 1,800 receiving the prestigious placement on Shanghai Ranking’s list.
Morocco’s top ranked institutions of higher learning ranked above several top universities that made it in the ranking of the world’s 500 best universities for Physics. Morocco’s four universities beat out two Egyptian, two Saudi and one Qatari universities to rank top in the Middle-East and North-Africa.
Within Africa, Morocco’s universities took the top spot together with South Africa, which also saw four universities ranked in the list of the 500 best institutions on physics.
Hassan II University, Mohammed V University and Cadi Ayyad University ranked in the bottom hundred of the 500 top institutions on Physics, while Mohammed I University topped the list, ranking in the 301-400 range.
