Denver – Morocco has successfully initiated the FIFA Forward Program in the country, according to FIFA official Kenny Jean-Marie. Jean-Marie noted how the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has “enabled the development of football in Morocco” through its participation in the development program.
Jean-Marie made the comments in Rabat earlier today, as a delegation of FIFA officials traveled throughout Morocco to tour the country’s developing football infrastructure.
He also spoke of FRMF’s actions to support and develop football in other parts of Africa, including the “development of the Rwandan Football Federation by using its own FIFA Forward funds,” according to sources present during the FIFA tour.
FIFA Forward is a program that has been in effect since 2016, and has become “one of the most prominent sports development programmes,” according to the football federation’s official website. The program works towards global inclusivity in world football, and since the initiation of the program, FIFA has reported more than half of its members have properly equipped both their women’s and youth national teams through efforts from FIFA Forward participants.
After leaving Rabat, the FIFA delegation in Morocco is scheduled to travel to Saidia, where it will be shown Morocco’s infrastructure development plans. The group will also visit the city of Berkane, where it will tour the facilities of RS Berkane, a first-division Moroccan football club.
As football continues to remain the most popular sport in the world, with reportedly over four billion fans of the sport, FIFA has expended generous amounts of capital investing in the increased promotion of the sport through programs such as FIFA Forward.
With the organization moving through FIFA Forward 2.0, which is slated to run from 2019-2022, FIFA’s congress has granted each of the organization’s member associations a 20% increase in financial support to stimulate more widespread progress towards helping eliminate economic inequalities in the world’s favorite sport.
