Rabat – Morocco’s Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research issued on Tuesday a ministerial decree framing the upcoming 2021-2022 school year.
The ministerial decree outlines the arrangements leading up to the upcoming school year, announcing that the 2021-2022 school year will start on September 3 both at the regional and national levels.
The ministry instructed its academies and affiliated regional administrations to activate school councils and supervision, coordination and pedagogical mechanisms, as well as administrative management of educational establishments.
The decree specifies the formulas that educational bodies are supposed to follow, and elaborated on the pedagogical framework and monitoring process. It emphasized the importance of continuous review and set the important dates of the new school season.
In its statement, the ministry called on all actors in the sector to take all the necessary measures to properly prepare for the next school year, which will carry on under the slogan “For a pioneering educational renaissance to improve the quality of education.”
After a rough two years of remote learning, frequent rescheduling of exams dates, and a back to school season due to COVID-19, things are slowly getting back to normal.
Although the decree did not mention whether classes will resume in person, most believe Morocco is well on its way to a full return to normalcy within the remainder of the year.
