Rabat –  The largest Decathlon store in Morocco and Africa opened its doors this Thursday.

Located at the Ain Diab in Casablanca, the new store is the 17th Decathlon store in the country, and the fourth in the economic capital.

“The Ain Diab store is located in the sporting heart of Casablanca, the ‘Corniche’, which has always been a hot spot for athletes. It seemed logical to us to move there and offer a new experience,” said Imad Bouzzroud, project leader of Decathlon La Corniche Ain Diab.

The French sports and leisure retailer is set to continue its expansion in Morocco, by improving its proximity to its customers by further expanding its number of sports-goods stores across the country.

“This opening is once again the culmination of several months of work by the teams, and today I am proud of what we have accomplished,” said Sanchez Borja, President and CEO of Decathlon Morocco.

Sanchez Borja added that “It is about offering our customers a memorable experience, with real innovations and new concepts that we will initiate in this store before extending them to the Moroccan territory.”

Covering nearly 3,000 square meters, and with equipment and clothing for more than 60 different sports, the largest store in the continent also includes a Decath’Club, a sports area where customers can take group classes.

The facility also has a ‘Pause Diet’ area, where customers can purchase food and beverage products.

It will also host a Shop-in-shop, a retail innovation, which allows customers to buy not only Decathlon products, but also products from other major sports brands.

“We have imagined a Decathlon Store to international standards that has nothing to envy the large stores in Europe,” stated the CEO of Decathlon Morocco in the statement.

The president adds that the new megastore is Decathlon’s way of saying thank you to the thousands of Moroccans who trust the brand, “ whether they are regular sportsmen or amateurs.”

Worldwide, Decathlon has over 1,698 operational stores in 61 countries. In Morocco, there are nearly 1,000 employees who work within the 16 stores, offering over in both the local production site and the continental warehouse.  Besides its Moroccan stores, Decathlon has stores in Algeria, DR Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya,Senegal, South Africa,
