Rabat – The Moroccan-American Network presented the 6th celebration of its annual Morocco Day, which will be held on July 22, 2021.
The event entitled “Educating Small Business Post Covid: Prospects and Challenges” is held annually by the network and is officially recognized by the American capital, Washington D.C.
The conference will bring together executives from American businesses with Moroccan entrepreneurs and government representatives, a press release from the Moroccan American Network detailed.
This year’s event aims to explore business opportunities and partnerships in the south of Morocco, such as Laayoune and Dakhla.
Mohamed El Hajjam, the President of the Moroccan American Network, said that the event is “just the first step in a long and ambitious journey to strengthen Morocco’s position in the United States.”
He added that the network has a twelve-year plan to recognize one of Morocco’s twelve regions every year.
The summit will highlight women and young leaders for their contributions to the Moroccan-American community, and explore opportunities for economic, cultural, and educational collaboration between the two countries.
The neighboring city of Alexandria, Virginia also marked Morocco Day this year on November 5, in recognition from Americans of the positive aspects of Morocco’s economy and stability, according to the press release.
Morocco Day’s annual event attracts many renowned guests, such as entrepreneurs, public figures, academics, and analysts interested in enhancing Morocco-US relations.
The network held another event in January of this year, under the slogan “Tourism and Handicrafts: Two Pillars for Leveraging and Repositioning the Moroccan Economy in the Post-Epidemic World,” which focused on Morocco’s economic revival and opportunities in the country’s southern regions.
The discussion in the January event centered on opportunities for investments in Morocco’s southern regions, and the potential advantages of bilateral relationships between Morocco and the US, as well as regionally and internationally.
Morocco Day’s focus on the south came after former US President Donald Trump formally recognized the Moroccan sovereignty over Western Sahara, which strengthened the bilateral ties between the two countries, and attracted more American investors to Morocco.
The US and Morocco recently celebrated the 200th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, highlighting their strong relationship during the recent joint military exercise African Lion 2021.
