Rabat – The Marrakech-Safi Regional Directorate of Health denies that COVID-19 patients died from lack of oxygen at the Mohammed V hospital in Safi.
“The Mohammed V Provincial Hospital in Safi is equipped with the necessary equipment for the care of patients with COVID-19, including oxygen cylinders,” said the DRS Marrakech-Safi in a press release.
The directorate claims that all deaths recorded in the region have been caused by COVID-19.
Marrakech-Safi is among the most severely affected COVID-19 regions .
On August 17, Morocco recorded 123 deaths. Among the number of fatalities, eight deaths were recorded in the Marrakech-Safi region.
There were also over 600 COVID-19 cases in the region, out of over 9,000 cases reported on August 17.
As of August 17, Morocco registered a total of 772 ,394 COVID-19 cases, including 11,242 deaths, and 681,705 recoveries.
There is an increase in cases and deaths in Morocco, which is causing worry and concern among health care professionals.
The regional directorate in Marrakech-Safi issued a statement to reassure citizens that the Ministry of Health has equipped hospitals with the necessary equipment to ensure efficient handling of the pandemic.
The statement also conveyed gratitude and pride toward the efforts of health care professionals across the country.
The directorate said that it “would like to thank the health professionals who are constantly mobilized and spare no effort to fight the pandemic, through the monitoring of the epidemiological situation and the management of affected cases.”
The directorate also reassured citizens regarding the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, which is intended to halt the spread of the virus and its new strains, achieve herd immunity, and restore normalcy to Morocco.
To date, Morocco has fully vaccinated 11,980,285 of the population.
Over 16,740,875 people have received the first dose of the vaccine.
