Rabat – Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina have announced their starting lineups for their final Group B match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The two teams meet at Seattle Stadium on Wednesday with both needing victory to maintain their hopes of reaching the round of 32.
Qatar coach Julen Lopetegui has selected Mahmoud Abunada in goal, with Ayoub Al Oui, Pedro Miguel, Boualem Khoukhi and Sultan Al Brake forming the defence.
Jassem Gaber, Karim Boudiaf and Issa Laye start in midfield.
Edmilson Junior and Youssef Abdurisag join Qatar’s main attacking threat, Akram Afif, in the front three.
Qatar Starting Lineup
Qatar: Mahmoud Abunada; Ayoub Al Oui, Pedro Miguel, Boualem Khoukhi, Sultan Al Brake; Jassem Gaber, Karim Boudiaf, Issa Laye; Edmilson Junior, Youssef Abdurisag, Akram Afif.
Qatar are without Homam Ahmed and Assim Madibo, who are suspended after receiving red cards during the team’s 6-0 defeat against Canada.
Lopetegui will rely heavily on Afif to create opportunities as Qatar seek their first victory of the tournament.
The Asian side began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Switzerland before suffering the heavy defeat to Canada.
Džeko Leads Bosnia Attack
Bosnia and Herzegovina coach Sergej Barbarez has named Nikola Vasilj in goal.
Amar Dedić, Nikola Katić, Dennis Hadžikadunić and Sead Kolašinac make up the back four.
Amar Memić, Benjamin Tahirović, Ivan Šunjić and Kerim Alajbegović start in midfield, while Ermedin Demirović partners captain Edin Džeko in attack.
Bosnia and Herzegovina Starting Lineup
Bosnia and Herzegovina: Nikola Vasilj; Amar Dedić, Nikola Katić, Dennis Hadžikadunić, Sead Kolašinac; Amar Memić, Benjamin Tahirović, Ivan Šunjić, Kerim Alajbegović; Ermedin Demirović, Edin Džeko.
Hadžikadunić enters the defence in the absence of the suspended Tarik Muharemović.
Džeko, now 40, remains Bosnia’s central attacking figure and will be supported by Demirović as the European side search for an important victory.
Both Teams Need Victory
Bosnia and Qatar enter the match with one point each.
Bosnia drew 1-1 with Canada in their opening match before losing 4-1 to Switzerland. Qatar also drew with Switzerland before their defeat against the tournament co-hosts.
A draw would leave both teams with only two points and would almost certainly end their World Cup campaigns.
Bosnia begin the match with a goal difference of minus three, while Qatar’s goal difference stands at minus six, meaning both sides may need more than a narrow victory to improve their chances of qualifying among the best third-placed teams.
