The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) hosted on Wednesday, September 29, a reception in honor of the National Futsal Team at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Sale.

The reception was a way to pay tribute to the team after their impressive, historic performance in the ongoing FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania.

Despite the disqualification of the Moroccan Futsal Team after losing to Brazil 1-0 in the quarter-finals, the FRMF believes their impressive performance deserved praise and appreciation.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Othman El Firdaous attended this event, along with the members of the FRMF steering committee.

During the ceremony, the president of the FRMF, Fouzi Lekjaa, applauded the team’s accomplishment as well as the technical staff’s professionalism.

Lekjaa expressed his satisfaction with the players’ skills during the World Cup but insisted on the importance of continuing to exploit their performance in order to be able to reach the final in the future.

He also announced he would be holding a working session with the national head coach, Hicham Dguig, to discuss developing a strategic plan that will help the team achieve higher achievements in the future.

Dguig, expressed his gratitude in regard to the continuous support provided by the president of the FRMF. He also stressed that the National Team’s level and capacities are a result of the combined efforts of the players, the technical and medical staff and the members of the FRMF.

He also called for the improvement of the Futsal infrastructure through building sports halls that meet international standards as well as investing more in young players.

The Atlas Lions paid their respects to the president of the FRMF by acknowledging the leading role he played in inspiring and motivating them to achieve their current level.

In Lithuania, the Moroccan players were able to compete with many big teams such as Portugal, and Venezuela.
