Denver – Renowned French university Jean Moulin Lyon 3 announced Morocco as the “honoree country” for the latest edition of its literary prize.
Known as the Chameleon Prize, the award is a student prize for translated foreign novels. The university highlighted several literary works by Moroccan authors, including Rachim El Bazzim, Abdelkader Mohaine, and Saadeddine Igamane.
The prize’s recognition of Morocco’s literary achievements will last from September 30 of this year to March 31of next year. The awarded works will also be celebrated during a cultural and literary celebration event to be held later this year on December 2.
The event will include speeches from Jean Moulin Lyon 3 faculty, a faculty presentation on Morocco, a highlight of the three finalist novels, readings from two selected Moroccan poems in two languages, a presentation on Moroccan calligraphy, and a workshop on Moroccan cuisine.
Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University has recognized six other countries in previous editions of the Chameleon Prize. Beginning with Brazil in 2016, the award then recognized Japan, Spain, Korea, Poland, and most recently Ireland. Due to the global COVID-19 lockdown, faculty will also hold a brief celebratory event for Ireland’s literary work during the Moroccan ceremony.
Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University is a multidisciplinary learning institution located in the city of Lyon, France. The school has held a reputation as one of France’s best universities for law, philosophy, and literature.
