Aziz Akhannouch, Morocco’s new Head of Government announced today, September 22, the political parties that will form the new government coalition.
Akhannouch announced the National Rally of Independents (RNI), Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), and Al Istiqlal as the new government coalition.
Akhannouch, the Secretary-General of the RNI, explained that the announcement was a result of discussions with many different parties.
During his speech, the politician expressed gratitude to all politicians and parties that participated in the consultations.
“The majority of the parties participated in the consultations, except a few,” Akhannouch said.
He vowed that the new government coalition would fulfill all the requests and recommendations outlined in the speeches of King Mohammed VI.
A new development model will also be a priority in the programs of the winning parties in the September 8 general elections, Akhannouch said.
The Head Of Government vowed that the commitments each party made during the electoral campaign would be “visible” once the new government begins services.
The Head of Government said that consultations are ongoing to list the names that will take part in the new cabinet.
“We assure you that the names in the new government will include qualified people,” who will ensure transparency and security, Akhannouch emphasized.
Towards the end of his speech, he expressed his appreciation for the trust voters had placed in him and committed to working with all parties, including those in opposition.
PAM Secretary General Abdellatif Ouahbi and Al Istiqlal Secretary General Nizar Baraka reaffirm their commitment to work with RNI for better governance and performance to overcome every challenge, from the economic crisis to the eradication of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The announcement of the new government coalition came just a few weeks following the general election held on September 8.
RNI won a majority of seats in the House of Representatives, followed by PAM, and RNI.
The coalition government emphasized the importance of forming a government as quickly as possible, in order to resolve all challenges hampering development in the country.
