Rabat – Morocco’s number of fully vaccinated people reached 17,590,697, while 21,221,268 people have received the first dose of the COVID vaccine as of September 20, the country’s ministry of health has announced.
The data shows Morocco’s national vaccination campaign is on track to reach its goal of vaccinating 80% or 33 million people to achieve herd immunity against the virus.
The new data shows that Morocco recorded 693 new COVID-19 cases and 3,335 recoveries in the past 24 hours.
The total number of COVID-19 recorded since the start of the pandemic in Morocco in March jumped to 920,374, while the number of recoveries reached 885,490.
The number of active cases remarkably decreased to 20,926 compared to double of the number and over-recorded in the past few months.
In the past 24 hours, Morocco carried out 9,629 tests, bringing to 8,603,089 the total number of COVID-19 tests carried out in the country since the start of the pandemic in March of last year.
The number of COVID patients currently in critical conditions is estimated at 1,415, with the new sowing fatality rate of 1.5% and an encouraging recovery rate of 96.2%.
In the past 24 hours, the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra region recorded most of the cases (321 cases, 19 deaths) across Morocco.
Casablanca-Settat recorded 89 new COVID-19 cases and 11 deaths in the past 24 hours, followed by the Oriental (78 cases, five deaths), Marrakech-Safi (52 cases, two deaths), Beni Mellal Khenifra (46 cases, one death), and Fez-Meknes (28 cases and two deaths).
Tangier-Tetouan Al Hoceima recorded new 27 infection cases and five deaths, followed by Souss-Massa (23 cases, two deaths), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (16 cases), Draa-Tafilalet (seven cases, one death), Guelmim-Oued Noun (four cases), and Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (two cases).
