Rabat –The Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN) held, on Thursday October 7, an event on Green Hydrogen under the title “Green Hydrogen: Key to Decarbonizing the Economy” in The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai.
Last year, the IRESEN took part in the first themed week dedicated to climate and biodiversity, during the 2020 Dubai Expo.
Many experts in the field participated in the 2021 event, discussing the challenges associated with the deployment of the Power-to-X sector in order to accelerate the decarbonization of the economy.
During the event, IRESEN, the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE), as well as Cluster Green H2, the first green hydrogen group in Africa, highlighted Morocco’s ambition and potential in the field of production, use, and exportation of Hydrogen and green molecules.
Participants discussed the actions of the National Hydrogen Commission coordinated by the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the launch of the Green H2, the efforts of the private sector, and synergies with various stakeholders.
The participants also reviewed the organization of the 2021 “Power-To-X Summit” event, which is scheduled to be held in Marrakech in early December, and the presentation of the first pilot projects launched by IRESEN, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and their various partners.
Representatives from several national and international organizations participated in the event, including Mena Hydrogen Alliance, Siemens Energy, Engie, Aaqius and Roland Berger, contributing to the richness of the discussions and the presentations.
The event highlighted the human, technological, economic, environmental, fiscal, and regulatory challenges facing the sector, and examined the first pilot R&D projects as well as the industry’s leading companies.
The conference concluded with a proposal to government and private stakeholders, in an effort to establish a strong and fair international partnership between countries that will export clean hydrogen and import clean hydrogen, which is a form of renewable energy that can help facilitate many types of productions.
