Denver – Air France announced it will be extending the schedule of flights from Ibn Battuta Airport in Tangier to Charles de Gaulle Airport in France through the winter travel season.
Air France announced the decision in a press release published last Friday, October 8. The company highlighted the transnational route’s popularity and stated it would be “building on its success.”
The company will offer semi-weekly flights between Tangiers and Paris and will add to current Air France flights linking Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakech to France. The new route brings the total number of flights Air France operates between Morocco and Charles de Gaulle to 65 per week. Air France remains one of the most popular airlines in Morocco, alongside flagship carrier Royal Air Maroc and Emirati-based Air Arabia.
Air France determined that its decision to host flights from Tangier to Paris will last from now until at least March of 2022. Reservations have already become available through Air France’s points of sale, and the company maintains COVID-19 health measures are still in full effect in accordance with French laws.
France continues to be a popular travel destination for Moroccans despite the recent restrictions French authorities have put on travel between the two countries. Recently, French authorities placed Morocco on the country’s COVID-19 amber list after the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the North African country.
During the same time period, French authorities also mandated unvaccinated travelers entering France from Morocco via ferry would also be subject to COVID-19 testing upon entering the port of Sete.
Despite a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases in both countries during late summer, both governments have appeared to gain control over the pandemic in their respective territories, indicated by a sharp decline in the COVID-19 infection rates in both France and Morocco.
