Denver – Members of a Moroccan delegation traveled to Portugal this week in search of new areas of potential business cooperation in the Iberian nation.

The trip, which lasted from October 25th-October 28th, allowed the Moroccan officials to travel through the regions of Lisbon and Porto, the two largest cities in the country.

Morocco’s ambassador to Portugal Othmane Bahnini led the trip, and the delegation consisted of officials from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Morocco-Portugal Business Council.

The delegation primarily worked on developing ties in the textile industry, leather industry, automotive industry, and various tech sectors according to the group. A roundtable meeting between Moroccan and Portuguese officials resulted in the construction of a roadmap towards developing these ties in the near future.

Morocco took the time to showcase its advancements in the automotive sector, including its advances in strengthening automotive production. Officials took the time to learn about Portugal’s automotive investments in Research & Development and establish relations with the Portuguese Automobile Association.

The officials concluded their trip in Portugal with a meeting with the Morocco-Portugal Economic Impulse Group’s (GIE) co-presidents. They discussed the activities of the GIE, and what actions to undertake within the framework of the group’s activities.

Morocco’s latest trip to Portugal is part of a long history of cooperation between the two regional neighbors. Earlier this year, the two countries reached agreements on tech development and mutual startup support between Morocco’s Digital Development Agency, and GrowIN Portugal.
