COVID-19: 92% of Morocco’s Prison Population are Fully Vaccinated

The General Delegate for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) announced today that nearly 92% of Morocco’s prison population are vaccinated against COVID-19.

Rabat – The General Delegate for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) announced today that nearly 92% of Morocco’s prison population are vaccinated against COVID-19.

DGAPR announced that it was working in collaboration with Morocco’s health authorities, and mobilizing all human resources to administer vaccinations to the entire prison population in different institutions across the country.

DGAPR added that the vaccination process is still ongoing to include the remainder of prisoners, as well as new arrivals to prison establishments that were not yet vaccinated.

DGAPR has announced that a third dose of vaccination is about to be administered to ensure the most effective and reliable border protection for prisoners.

Morocco launched its vaccination campaign on January 28, with the aim to vaccinate 80% or 33 million of the population.

The vaccination campaign also concerns people aged between 17 and 12.

To date, Morocco fully vaccinated 20, 869, 902 People who received the second dose reached ​23,​ 218​​​​, ​100.

Meanwhile, over 625,​​​​​ 088 people received the third dose of the COVID vaccine as of October 12.

Morocco started administering the third dose of the vaccine on October 4.

Health officials recommended that the third dose should be administered to people working in the frontlines, as well as the elderly population.

Health professionals also said that vaccine types may differ from those administered during the first two doses.
