Rabat – The Casablanca Stock Exchange witnessed a positive rebound today, October 4, after experiencing a slight decline last month.
The Moroccan All Shares Index (MASI) gained 0.21% of value on Monday alone, reaching 13,132 points.
MASI index is a stock that tracks the performance of all companies listed in the Casablanca Stock Exchange. It is one of the two main Moroccan indexes, the other being the Moroccan Most Active Shares Index (MADEX).
MADEX, which is a compact index based on liquidity, gained as much as 10,671 points in the past six months.
MADEX also tracks the most active securities continually listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange.
Meanwhile, Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI20) rose by 0.22% to 1,074 points in the same period.
MSI20 reflects the stock price of the 20 most liquid companies in Casablanca’s Stock Exchange with the purpose of meeting the expectations of investors interested in liquid securities.
The benchmark Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) “Casablanca ESG 10” index amounted to 990 points through an increase of 0.34%.
According to the environmental news and Data platform Earth ORG, Morocco has pursued a sustainable development model rooted in renewable energy and was ranked 11th in the Global Sustainability Index.
As the Moroccan stock market experienced a rebound today, the National Company of Electrolysis and Petrochemistry (SNEP) soared 3.77%, ahead of Stokvis North Africa (+3.36%), and CIH bank (+3.27%).
Conversely, market stocks of the construction company Jet Contractors, Sothema company, and Residence Dar Saada real estate company dropped by 3.37%, 3.03%, and 1.56% respectively.
Last Friday, the MASI and the MSI20 had lost 0.62% and 0.81% respectively.
While the Moroccan stock market is slowly making progress again, it remains to be seen whether the COVID-19 crisis will further evolve and affect the economy in the foreseeable future.
