Rabat – The National People’s Congress of Al-Quds affiliated with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Islamic-Christian body in support of Al-Quds and Sacred Sites, affirmed on Monday, November 8, their support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.
On the weekend of November 6 and 7, the Moroccan Cultural Center in Al-Quds held the “Day of the Kingdom of Morocco in Al-Quds,” a special celebration day dedicated to Morocco.
“The participation in the ‘Day of the Kingdom of Morocco in Al-Quds’ confirms the Palestinian position which supports the territorial integrity of the Kingdom,” said the two organizations in a joint statement.
“The Moroccan nature of the Sahara is an immutable and indisputable truth by virtue of history and legitimacy,” they added.
The two bodies congratulated King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan government, as well as the Moroccan people on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the Green March.
They also underlined the valuable role of Al-Quds Committee, chaired by HM King Mohammed VI, as well as the Bayt Mal Al Quds Al Sharif Agency, created in 1995 by HM the late King Hassan II, which carried out many exemplary humanitarian programs in Al-Quds.
“The choice of the ‘Alalam’ district located at the heart of the old medina of Al-Quds to set up the Moroccan Cultural Center, allows the promotion and the protection of the unique Islamic-Christian identity of the Holy City,” said the two Palestinian bodies in the same statement.
Morocco’s efforts to aid the Palestinian cause go back to the mid-1990s, with the creation of as the Bayt Mal Al Quds Al Sharif Agency to provide assistance to Palestinian peoples and institutions.
Throughout the 2010s, Morocco was able to send emergency humanitarian aid to Palestine on numerous occasions; in 2014, the country created a ministerial action group tasked with promoting and defending the Palestinian cause on the international stage.
