Rabat- Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, announced on Thursday this week his department’s plans to create a “Youth Pass” that will allow young people in the country to access movie theatres, museums, galleries, and other cultural spaces for special rates.
In partnership with several public and private institutions as well as local authorities, “the Youth Pass will allow young Moroccans to enjoy a multitude of benefits,” Bensaid noted during a presentation of the sectoral budget of his ministry.
The minister said one of his main aims is to improve his department’s communication strategy with Morocco’s youth. He highlighted “the creation of an electronic platform, social networks and other mobile apps that will provide young Moroccans with all necessary information they may need, and on which they can express their expectations and concerns.”
Bensaid stated that his department is also working on the enactment of the law on child welfare centers, the decree establishing the commission responsible for the monitoring, and the implementation of an integrated national policy for youth.
The official added that his ministry is currently working on “expanding its partnerships by diversifying cooperative collaboration accords, both with governments around the world and youth-focused NGOs.”
He assured that his department plans to set up “a master development plan” to create new establishments as well as adopting new management methods for these establishments to improve staff training and reduce territorial disparities.
Of its goal to reform its relationship with civil society, Bensaid indicated that his department intends to launch a survey to better understand the associations and their action.
A governmental initiative is also expected to lead to the creation of spaces dedicated to the reception of young entrepreneurs or young people in precarious situations.
The initiative will aim to support young people’s economic integration through targeted training, and support to acquire funding for entrepreneurial projects, the minister promised.
