Rabat – The Moroccan national carrier, Royal Air Maroc, announced today that it is preparing special flights from Morocco to Burkina Faso and Mauritania between December 17 and 18.

RAM said on its official Twitter, “We inform our Customers that new special flights (under special authorization) are scheduled on December 17 and 18, 2021 from Morocco to Burkina Faso and Mauritania.”

Last week, RAM announced that it will be carrying special flights from Morocco to France, Spain, and Mauritania.

Morocco’s authorities have decided to suspend direct passenger flights from and to Morocco until further notice, prompting RAM to cancel its flights until December 31.

Morocco’s government decided to suspend flights to and from Morocco on November 29 for two weeks as part of its campaign against COVID-19.

On December 9, authorities announced that the suspension will be extended for another two weeks at least.

Low-cost Irish carrier Ryanair also decided to cancel all its flights until February 1, 2022. The decision has left 230,000 Ryanair clients facing disruptions to their travel plans.

Flight suspensions come as a precaution against a potential outbreak of Omicron, the new strain of the COVID-19 virus.
