The Moroccan government announced its decision to resume air travel to and from Morocco starting on February 7.

A statement from the government said that the decision comes in line with the recommendations of the Scientific and Technical Committee.

This step comes as part of the government’s legal requirements related to managing a state of health emergency.

The decision takes into account the developments of the epidemiological situation  in Morocco.

The government announced the formation of a technical committee to set procedures and measures applicable at the country’s borders. The committee will also determine conditions to be provided by travelers, which will be announced at a later date.

The statement also urged citizens  to respect the usual social distancing measures and to continue wearing masks in public venues. .

The government urged citizens to receive their necessary and scheduled doses of the COVID 19 vaccines. It further called on Moroccans to get a third dose of the vaccines, stressing that it will boost “national solidarity” to overcome the pandemic.

Morocco closed its borders on November 29 as part of the country’s measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its strains, especially the Omicron variant.

Reopening Morocco’s air travel came after many health policy specialists called on the government to end the travel ban.
