Casablanca — Around 400 members of the Moroccan community in Farciennes benefited from a mobile consular operation organized today by the Moroccan Consulate General in Liege.
The initiative brought consular services directly to residents of the Walloon municipality, located about 60 kilometers south of Brussels, allowing them to complete administrative procedures closer to home. The operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Consulate General in Liege to improve access to public services for Moroccans living abroad, in line with the directives of King Mohammed VI and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
During the visit, citizens were able to collect identity and travel documents, obtain birth certificates, complete advisory procedures, and receive information and guidance on various consular services. Consular staff also provided personalized assistance with online appointment bookings as part of efforts to reduce the digital divide and ensure broader access to services.
The operation followed a recent open house event held at the Consulate General’s headquarters and drew strong attendance from Moroccan nationals in the region. Many residents were able to complete their administrative procedures without having to travel long distances, just weeks before the launch of Operation Marhaba 2026.
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Najah Dimou said the initiative is part of a roadmap aimed at strengthening proximity with Moroccan citizens and continuously improving the quality of consular services. She noted that the consulate is continuing the momentum created by the recent open house by reaching out directly to Moroccan communities across different localities within its consular district.
Dimou said the approach reflects the special attention King Mohammed VI gives to Moroccans living abroad. With Operation Marhaba 2026 approaching, she added, the priority is to provide a modern, accessible and proximity-based public service that allows citizens to complete their administrative procedures under the best possible conditions.
The Consulate General in Liege said it remains committed to expanding a modern and inclusive proximity-based administration that responds to the needs of Moroccans living within its jurisdiction.
