Agadir – The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) arrested a 31-year-old man who was arrested today in M’diq, following intelligence shared by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
According to an official statement, the man was arrested on suspicion of involvement in preparations for a terrorist plan intended to threaten public safety and public order.
The operation was carried out early in the day as part of ongoing nationwide efforts to counter terrorism risks and prevent potential security threats, noted a BCIJ statement.
Initial findings from the investigation, which were supported by surveillance work, suggest that the suspect had embraced extremist ideology associated with ISIS and was allegedly preparing to carry out terrorist activities inspired by so-called “individual jihad.”
Authorities also indicate that the individual is believed to have developed knowledge related to explosives fabrication, which he allegedly intended to use in planning attacks targeting civilians and sensitive infrastructure, posing a serious threat to public security.
The suspect has been placed in custody pending further judicial investigation to be conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor in charge of terrorism cases.
According to the BCIJ statement, investigations are continuing to clarify the full scope of the case and to determine whether there are any links to extremist networks operating domestically or abroad.

The M’diq arrest comes amid a series of recent operations conducted by Moroccan security services targeting individuals suspected of extremist affiliations across different regions of the country.
Last month, the BCIJ announced the arrest of an ISIS-affiliated suspect in Dakhla, where security forces, acting on intelligence provided by the DGST, detained a 22-year-old individual accused of expressing intent to carry out terrorist acts threatening public safety and order.
Like this M’diq arrest, that operation involved the seizure of electronic equipment and materials considered relevant to ongoing investigations.
