Fez – The Minister of Economic Integration, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri has announced that the “Awrach” program has achieved its initial operational stage.
On January 19, Sekkouri chaired the first meeting of the “Awrach” steering committee.
During the meeting, Sekkouri stressed that the implementation of the program has effectively started. He noted that various agreements and guides of regional and provincial committees will be signed with municipal councils.
The Awrach committee signed an agreement with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, responsible for the state budget, the National Fund for Social Security (CNSS) and the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC).
Sekkouri explained that the agreement sets terms on each expenditure, highlighting the significance of this agreement in funding the implementation of the “Awrach” program.
The minister said that the meeting introduced outlines on how recipients will receive payment as well as outlines on expenditure of employment premiums granted in the long-term component of the program.
He also stated he plans to visit the province of M’diq-Fnideq, one of the program’s target provinces, before touring all of the program’s target provinces in the first phase.

On January 12, Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch signed a decree launching the project’s “temporary building sites” component, which promises to create 250,000 direct jobs in 2022 and 2023.
In 2022, the government will set up MAD 2.25 billion ($243.7 million) for the vast public works program, which is divided into two parts.
The first component, which concerns temporary workcamps, similar to the US Civilian Conservation Corps during the New Deal era, will cover 80% of the beneficiaries.
The second component entails the long-term integration of 20% of the workforce to meet service demands.
The “Awrach” program will cover 10 provinces in its first phase, before its progressive introduction in all Morocco’s regions.
A statement from the department of the Head of Government specified that M’diq-Fnideq, El Hajeb, Errachidia, Azilal, Nouaceur, Al Haouz, Figuig, Oued Eddahab, Sidi Kacem and Taroudant are the ten concerned provinces concerned.
