Fez – Morocco’s Atlas Lions and the Comoros national team face off today at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Cameroon’s capital Yaounde in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The anticipated game will take place at 5 p.m. Morocco local time.

The African Football Confederation (CAF) selected Tunisian referee Sadek Salmi to officiate the game.

Moroccan supporters wanting to watch today’s edgy game can check either the Qatari sports channel BeIN Sports or the Moroccan terrestrial TV channel Al Aoula TNT and Arryadia TNT. Moroccans residing abroad and worldwide fans can watch the game on BeIN Sports.

After their opening-game win against Ghana’s Black Stars, Morocco’s Atlas Lions’ anticipated clash with Comoros is a decisive moment in the team’s efforts to qualify for the tournament’s knockout stage. The team aims to secure an early foothold in the round of 16.

Speaking about the game, Morocco’s head coach Vahid Halilhodzic expects a tough test ahead for Atlas Lions, especially as the team is still suffering from crucial absences. He stated that tomorrow’s match will be a “tricky and difficult game.”

“It is a team [Comoros] that has nothing to lose. The team’s objective is to win their match against Morocco,” Halilhodzic stated in a press conference held on January 13. He also reminded that the previous “games were tight,” indicating that there is no “easy” team to beat.

The Bosnian coach pointed out that Morocco’s national team is suffering from absent members either due to COVID-19 infections or injuries during training. He anticipates that today’s last training session will bring good news and qualify some players for the much-anticipated game.

Halilhodzic assured fans of the Atlas Lion’s determination to go to the final phase of this tournament and earn the African title that has been absent from Morocco’s trophy closet for almost 46 years.

In today’s game, Morocco’s national team is determined to continue its winning streak and seal a spot in the Round of 16.
