Rabat – The list of the countries with the best national brands for 2021 is out, and for the first time, Morocco appears on the list of the top-60 countries with strong national brands.
Morocco ranked 42nd on the list of countries with the best national reputation, the highest-ranking for any Arab or African country, with South Africa taking 44th place.
Produced by market research firm Ipsos, the National Brand Index (NBI) measures a country’s international reputation along six dimensions of competence in exports, governance culture, people, tourism, immigration, and investment.
The index is based on data from over 60,000 online interviews over 20 panel countries, the 2021 ranking includes 60 countries, up from 50 in 2020.

Measuring a national brand provides a comprehensive metric to measure how a country is perceived internationally.
Morocco’s latest attempt to boost its international presence saw the introduction of “Morocco Now” in 2021 The international marketing campaign aims to enhance Morocco’s attractiveness as a go-to business destination, drawing attention to Morocco’s youth demography, world-class infrastructure, and green energy capabilities.
Morocco’s economic potential is slowly unfolding, as the North African country is presenting itself as a key player in major future industries.
Recent investments into recycled cobalt -a material pivotal to the production of electric cars- coupled with increased hydrogen production will potentially put Morocco on the map of global green energy suppliers and part of the international electric car supply chain.
Underpinning Morocco’s economic ambitions are strong macroeconomic policies that have maintained fiscal stability and kept inflation under the recommended 2% threshold, resisting international trends.
