Rabat – Low-cost carrier Ryanair will resume flights connecting Seville, Spain, and six Moroccan cities.
Ryanair will connect Seville with Rabat, Marrakech, Tangier, Fez, Tetouan, and Oujda.
The first flight Ryanair will operate connects Seville with Marrakech on March 1. On March 2, Ryanair will connect Seville and Tangier. On March 3, Ryanair will operate flights connecting Seville with Fez and Rabat.
On Friday, March 4, Ryanair will begin the flight connecting Seville and Tetouan, northern Morocco.
The resumption of flights is part of the Ryanair program following Morocco’s decision to reopen borders on February 7.
Morocco’s borders had been closed for three months since November 9. The country closed its airspace after the outbreak of the Omicron strain.
Many airlines, including Royal Air Maroc and Air Arabia, announced the resumption of flights following the reopening of Morocco’s airspace.
Morocco expects the reopening of borders to help recover the tourism sector, which suffered due to COVID-repercussions.
To mitigate the crisis in the sector, Morocco announced a MAD 2 billion ($212.24 million) to support the recovery of the tourism sector.
Tourism Ministry said Morocco experienced a 71% drop in tourist arrivals in 2021 compared to 2019. The sector also witnessed a loss of 20 million travelers and MAD 90 billion ($9.59 billion) in foreign exchange profits in the past few years.
