Rabat – Morocco’s rising star Ayyoub Bouaddi acknowledged Morocco faced a difficult game against France, describing the European side as a strong opponent.
In his remarks to beIN Sports, Bouaddi commented on Morocco’s 0-2 defeat to France, stating the team knew it would be a difficult game but believed the players did their best.
The midfielder also acknowledged Morocco’s biggest shortcoming in the game, including a lack of efficiency.
Despite the disappointment, Bouaddi stressed how the Atlas Lions will continue to work as a united team and as a family, focusing on the long-term project under head coach Mohamed Ouahbi.
“We are a family,” he said, emphasizing that the Atlas Lions will continue to build their momentum.
Asked about his future appearances with Morocco in upcoming tournaments, including AFCON, Bouaddi emphasized that success will require patience, insisting Morocco cannot lift major trophies overnight.
Coach Mohamed Ouahbi also expressed disappointment over the exit but emphasized that his team did its best despite some mistakes.
He said the future will be beautiful, while also highlighting a concern regarding the VAR controversy.
Commenting on Mbappé’s first goal, Ouahbi stated that it came after a contested ball because some players thought there had been a handball.
He commented on Adrien Rabiot’s challenge, during which the ball appeared to touch his hand.
“I don’t know whether it should have been called or not. I really don’t know… I am not a referee,” Ouahbi said.
Morocco’s Atlas Lions’ 2026 World Cup campaign ended tonight, but their impressive run will be remembered, as they were the only African and Arab team to reach this stage of the tournament. Morocco also remains the only Arab and African nation to have reached the World Cup semifinals, achieving that historic milestone in 2022—a reminder of the legacy that continues to define and shape Morocco’s football status.
