Rabat – Morocco and its royal family celebrate today the 15th birthday of Princess Lalla Khadija.
The Princess – King Mohamed VI’s second child and only daughter – was born on February 28, 2007. Formally declared by the Ministry of the Royal House, Protocol and Chancellery, her birth was announced by a 21-gun salute.
People across the nation celebrated the birth of the Princess back in 2007, with demonstrations of celebrations taking place in public squares and parks.
The people also signed wishes and congratulation messages on the “golden guest books” that were present at various directorates, wilayas, and provinces across the country.
Several international political and social figureheads also congratulated the monarch on the princess’s birth, sending messages and visiting the various embassies of Morocco across the world.
As for the princess’s public life, it began in 2011 when King Mohamed VI oversaw her first school day at the Royal Palace in Rabat.
She also accompanied her mother to inaugurate a center for children with cancer in Casablanca.
She has participated in various public events at her school, including the graduation ceremony for the royal school at Casablanca’s Royal Palace.
Aged 11 in 2018, she appeared in her first official ceremony with her father and Crown Prince Moulay Hassan. The ceremony was about “supporting schooling and implementing the reform of education and training.”
In 2019, she chaired the inauguration ceremony of the vivarium at Rabat’s Zoological Park, which includes more than 50 animals.
She also made appearances in international events, such as the 2019 welcoming ceremony of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain, which was chaired by King Mohamed VI and also included Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, and Prince Moulay Rachid.
