Rabat – Authorities have announced that 251 Moroccans left Ukraine through land border passages on Sunday, bringing the total of evacuated Moroccans to 436.
185 people left the conflict zone yesterday, after Morocco’s Foreign Ministry coordinated with embassies in Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Romania to facilitate Moroccans’ crossing of the border checkpoints.
154 Moroccans left the country through the border with Romania, bringing the total of Moroccans who crossed through the country to 251.
60 crossed to Poland, with another 29 seeking refuge in Slovakia, and 8 people heading to Hungary.
Morocco’s ambassador to Poland, Abderrahim Atmoune, received the evacuees from Ukraine.
Morocco’s government has continued to appeal to Moroccans in Ukraine to exercise patience and follow the instructions of both Ukrainian and Moroccan authorities.
The number of Moroccan students in Ukraine is estimated at about 8,000, representing the country’s second largest student demographic. The country is a popular study destination among young Moroccans.

60 Moroccans crossed to Poland, where they will stay until further measures are decided.
Moroccans in the country have documented their journey to exit the conflict zone, with buses taking them to border checkpoints where they will be allowed into neighboring countries until further repatriation efforts.
“We just reached Romania’s borders,” Mehdi Amiry, a Moroccan in the country, said in videos he shared with MWN. “We’re together in a group, and the place where we were dropped off was close. We walked for about 30 minutes.”
Morocco’s Foreign Ministry said that it is following “with concern” the events unfolding in the region, while voicing support for countries’ sovereignty and territorial integrity.
