King Mohammed VI has approved the appointment of judicial officials in several jurisdictions in Morocco.
The King is the President of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ).
A statement from the CSPJ pointed out that these appointments follow the retirement of four judges. The Council added that three other judges left their positions after being elected on October 23, 2021, as representatives in the CSPJ for a second term from 2022 to 2026.
According to the same source, a court official has been removed from his duties.
The new appointment of judicial officials aims to provide a new impetus to the positions of judicial responsibility in the various jurisdictions, noted the statement.
The nominations have been designed to help achieve greater efficiency in terms of judicial performance and greater transparency in management.
The nominees will also include judicial authorities capable of supporting the CSPJ’s agenda that promotes morality, probity, and righteousness.
The appointments are designed to put the judiciary’s independence to work for the fair and equitable implementation of the law.
Eight magistrates were given positions of responsibility for the first time, while the rest of the positions were given to magistrates currently holding lower or similar positions.
There were 14 appointees, accounting for 6.45% of all judicial positions.
These positions include one position of First President of the Court of Appeal, one of First President of the Commercial Court of Appeal, seven positions of President of the Court of First Instance, one of President of the Commercial Court, three positions of Public Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance, and one for Public Prosecutor of the Commercial Court.
