Morocco Reopens Airspace Today

Morocco has reopened its airspace borders today, February 7, after more than two months of closure.

Morocco’s government announced the decision to reopen borders on January x. The country’s decision came after recommendations from the Scientific Committee monitoring the epidemiological situation in Morocco.

The government also set up conditions for travelers — tourists, locals, or overseas Moroccans — wishing to enter the North African country.

The measures, seeking to ensure an effective air border reopening, include a mandatory vaccination pass as well as a negative PCR test taken less than 48 hours before departure.

Passengers will also undergo rapid tests upon arrival at Moroccan airports.

Authorities can also randomly select travelers for PCR tests as part of Morocco’s preventive measures.

Morocco’s travel requirements also include the possibility of carrying out an additional test at travelers’ hotels or residence 48 hours after arrival.

People who will test positive upon arrival will undergo confinement in the places of their residence while being subjected to careful monitoring.

Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco’s national carrier, has also announced updates to travel conditions for passengers willing to visit Morocco after the border reopening.

For passengers aged 18 years old and beyond, RAM’s updated conditions include a vaccination pass and a PCR test taken less than 48 hours before departure.

Passengers should also present a printed, filled, and signed health form; the form can be downloaded at https://onda.ma/form.php.

Meanwhile, travelers over six years old and younger than 18 have to only present a negative PCR test, in addition to filling in and signing the printed form.

As for passengers younger than six, only the health form is required..

Morocco’s decision to reopen to lift its air travel ban has received applause from tourism professionals and air companies.

Almost immediately after the Moroccan government announced the reopening of borders, Transavia, Air France, Ryanair, and Binter all announced the resumption of their flights to and from the North African country.
