Rabat – The King’s Prosecutor in the Court of Cassation and the Chief of Public Prosecution Institution in Rabat, Moulay El Hassan Daki, has commended the significant contributions of women towards the development of the Moroccan judicial system, during a speech on March 7th.

Daki highlights that the constitution established the principles of gender equality, giving women their rightful place in order to build a Morocco of democracy, equality and rights, calling the occasion of the International Women’s Day “an opportunity (for women, sic.) to be recognized.”

Emphasizing the significant progress that Moroccan women, like their counterparts around the world, have made in shouldering responsibilities and demonstrating that they are dedicated, trustworthy, and deserving of roles in public judicial office, Daki highlighted women’s potential and success in roles ranging from, “judge, general representative of the king, president of a court, or clerk of control”.

Moroccan women have demonstrated “that they are no less vital and efficient than men, and sometimes even superior to them,” adds the head of the Public Prosecution Institution, “and the justice sector is abundant in the best and most efficient women.”

“Thanks to their foresight,” the official continues, “women have striven to develop the judicial system, and regularly played a prominent role in the courts; and today we acknowledge and cherish this effort.”

Daki concluded that women have been responsible for many improvements, noting that the exemplary performance of Public Prosecution Office is often a result of efforts made by women in the courts, working to rigorous standards and expectations.

The ceremony included the presentation of souvenirs, in coordination with the Association of Judges and employees of the Public Prosecution Office, to female employees of the Public Prosecution Office, as well as honoring some women judges, employees and prosecutors.

Aisha Al-Ikleel, a judge at the Presidency of the Public Prosecution, who was honored on this occasion, expressed her pride in celebrating and honoring this day, “which is a celebration of women at all levels and in various fields.”

“It is a day to recognize what women working in this institution offer in their field of work, and a day to celebrate Moroccan women in all locations, whether housewives or workers”, adding that women are half of society and their work is critical to progress and prosperity in Morocco.

The judge also stressed that Moroccan women have been able to reach the highest levels thanks to their diligence and the equality they enjoy.
