Rabat – Spokesperson of the Moroccan government Mustapha Baitas has announced that the country is reviewing all options to allow Moroccan students returning from Ukraine to resume their education.

The options include the opening of a dialogue with Ukraine’s neighboring countries to assist Moroccan students who wish to continue their studies in a geographical area close to their country of residence.

Baitas emphasized that Morocco is putting in place a strategy, seeking to help Moroccan students returning from Ukraine to join Moroccan faculties.

He recalled that the North African country’s Department of Higher Education  announced a platform to identify students and know their specialties to help them integrate in Moroccan schools.

He said that as of March 8, 4,885 Moroccan students registered on the platform. 70 % of the number of 3,744 students are resuming their studies in medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry in Morocco after their return.

Roughly 182 students are resuming their studies in architecture and engineering, while 238 joined schools to study language majors, veterinary sciences, economics, as well as management, and law, he added.

Morocco’s embassy in Ukraine announced yesterday that 7,000 Moroccans have returned home from Ukraine as of now.

The embassy emphasized that it is still monitoring the situation of Moroccans in  Ukraine, recalling the measures Morocco put in place to help repatriate citizens back from Ukraine.

Monitoring teams dubbed “crisis cells” are among the measures Morocco introduced to maintain dialogue and contact with Moroccans in the country.

The embassy emphasized that it will spare no efforts to continue to help and ensure safety of citizens in Ukraine.
