Rabat – Spanish airline Binter on Friday announced the launch of a Canary islands-Guelmim route as part of plans to expand into Africa.
Tickets are available for people wanting to make this trip as of Friday, with the first trip planned for April 2, the airline said in a press release.
Binter plans to organize two weekly trips connecting the Spanish Canary islands to Guelmim in south-west Morocco.
The flights will run on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11.00 a.m. from Canary islands then return from Guelmim at 1.10 p.m.
The Saturday schedule will vary between July and September, the statement said.
The one and a half hour flight on an ATR 72-600 plane can seat up to 72 passengers.
When Moroccan airspace reopened on February 7, Binter resumed flights connecting Spanish Canary islands to Moroccan cities of Laayoune, Agadir, and Dakhla.

As Morocco reopened, international airlines have reconnected numerous destinations worldwide to Morocco, leading to a gradual return to pre-COVID-19 levels.
In February, Moroccan airports welcomed just over 660,000 people on board 6,000 flights, connecting Morocco to Europe (64%), the Middle East (13%), the rest of Africa (13%), and North America (6%).
The statistics include special flights organized by Royal Air Maroc to repatriate Moroccan nationals following the escalation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
On February 24, Ukraine closed its airspace to commercial flights, forcing Moroccans living and studying in the conflict zone to flee to Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland.
