Rabat – The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) will participate in the 28th International Mediterranean Tourism Market Expo (IMTM 2022) to promote holidays to the North African country.
The event – due to take place on March 29 and 30 – is organized by Israel’s leading event organizer ORTRA meeting point and tourism publishing house, Israel Travel News and will bring together over 1,800 exhibitors from 57 countries and could see more than 26,000 visitors.
IMTM 2022 provides an opportunity for Moroccan tourism operators to expand their operations in the Israeli market. Representatives from 25 Moroccan holiday resorts, hotels, and travel agencies, as well as the national carrier Royal Air Maroc will promote the country’ at the expo.
Since the normalization of diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries, Israeli tourists have expressed growing interest in Morocco as a tourist destination, according to a rating from TripAdvisor.
Around 60 Moroccan travel agencies are active in the Israeli market.
Morocco is training travel guides to speak Hebrew for Israeli tourists, and there are around 60 hotels in Morocco that use Kosher meat for Jewish guests.

On March 23, tourism operators and investors in both markets participated in the first digital Morocco-Israel Tourism Investment Summit to review investment opportunities in the countries’ tourism and hospitality sectors.
Earlier in March, ONMT announced its collaboration with American influencer Happy Kelli and Israeli TV animator Yarden Harel “to boost the touristic image of Morocco.”
Morocco continues to consolidate its position in the Israeli tourism market but is facing competition from other popular holiday destinations such as Poland, Turkey, the USA, Egypt, Romania, Cyprus, Germany, and United Kingdom, according to ONMT.
In 2019, Ukraine and Russia ranked 5th and 9th in popular destinations among Israeli tourists. But the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine has put an end to this providing an opportunity for Morocco to welcome more Israeli citizens.
