Rabat – As Ramadan 2022 approaches Muslims all over the world are getting ready to fast daily from dawn until sunset and cherish this holy month.
Ramadan begins on different days each year because Muslims follow the lunar calendar, which depends on moon sightings.
This is the full timetable of when Ramadan is set to start in different countries according to astronomists.
Morocco
Ramadan is expected to begin on April 3 in Morocco, according to Abdelhafid Bani, President of the Rabat Astronomy Association.
Bani noted that the evening of Friday April 1 corresponds to Sha’ban 29, which means that Sha’ban, the eight-month of the Islamic calendar, will last 30 days.
France
According to the Muslim Theological Council of France, Ramadan 2022 in France will begin on Saturday April 2, and end on Monday May 2.
UK
Similar to France, Ramadan in the United Kingdom is expected to start on April 2, according to the Islamic Relief organization in the UK.
Canada
Ramadan is expected to begin in Canada on Saturday April 2, according to Islamic Relief Canada, and end on May 1.
US
Ramadan 2022 in the United States is expected to begin on April 2 and end with Eid al-Fitr on Monday May 2.
UAE
The United Arab Emirates expects April 2 to be the first day of Ramadan. The Crescent Sighting Committee of the Qatari Ministry of Islamic Affairs called on all Muslims in Qatar to look for the crescent moon of Ramadan on the evening of Friday, April 1, which corresponds to Sha’ban 29.
Saudi Arabia
Ramadan is expected to begin on April 2 in Saudi Arabia, the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences has said.
The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has urged all Muslims in the nation to participate in the sighting of the crescent moon of Ramadan on Friday evening, April 2.
Netherlands
According to the German Islamic Relief, Ramadan 2022 will start on April 2 in the Netherlands.
Europe
According to the General Secretariat of the European Council for Fatwa and Research, April 2 will mark the first day of Ramadan 2022 in Europe.
The council stated that its calculations are based on a number of factors, including confirmation from the International Jurisprudence Council and the first session of the Unified Hijri Calendar held recently in Istanbul.
Qatar
Ramadan is expected to start in Qatar on Saturday April 2, as the Gulf country usually follows Saudi Arabia’s sighting of the crescent moon.
