Rabat – The district of Ain Chock in Casablanca has set up an office to deal with consumer complaints during the holy month of Ramadan to prevent exploitation and fraud.
The aim of the service, which will be available outside of working hours and during weekends, is to protect the citizens’ purchasing power and health, as well as ensure that wholesalers maintain enough stock of all essential products during Ramadan.
The service will allow both consumers and suppliers to submit their complaints regarding any illegal commercial practices affecting product supply or prices or harming the health of consumers.
The Ain Chock prefecture invites citizens to call the following numbers in the case of a complaint: 0522580813 – 0522580819 – 0522580830.
The consumer complaints office will then follow up on any complaint, in accordance with the laws and regulations of the area.
As Ramadan approaches, the joint provincial commission for the control of prices and the quality of food in Ain Chock Casablanca has stepped up operations to monitor the prices and quality of food products in the city’s numerous markets and points of sale.

Members of the committee conducted a series of control tours at various points of sale in Ain Chock to ensure compliance with subsidized product prices, control the quality of basic products, and ensure supply monitoring.
Ensuring the implementation of the government’s subsidies will allow suppliers to produce more goods. This raises the total supply of products and therefore lowers their overall price.
The goal of the tours is to preserve Moroccan’s purchasing power and protect their health, especially with the significant rise in goods prices that Morocco witnessed in the past couple of weeks.
The committee conducts regular surprise visits to monitor market conditions, ready to intervene and roll-out necessary measures against violators of product safety standards and regulations.
Ensuring product safety is one of Morocco’s top priorities. The country has taken a proactive stance toward manufacturing and consumer safety to maintain product safety and protect against hazardous goods.
During Ramadan, many stores and markets offer massive discounts on various essential commodities to relieve the financial burden on families. However, some retailers take advantage of the situation and sell products that violate safety regulations.
